Recent Chrome OS updates have broken the camera on some Chromebooks for some users. as reported by About Chromebooksbut Google said on Thursday it had released a fix.
Some bug reports found by About Chromebooks before the fix was available, various issues were listed; one said the camera “just doesn’t work” while another said the camera is “couldn’t concentrate properly” People have also reported problems with a few different updates, at least one of which is going backwards to Chrome 97. (Chrome OS is currently to version 100.)
There have been some reports of camera issues with the following devices About Chromebooks:
- Acer Chromebook 14
- HP Chromebook x2 11
- Lenovo Duet 5 Chromebook 5
- Lenovo 10e Chromebook
- Google Pixel Book Go
- Acer Chromebook Spin 13
in one Reddit thread Speaking of recent camera issues with the Duet 5, a person with a Verified Googler tag Tuesday said the company was working on a fix. “Our team anticipates the fix will be available later this week with a software update and is unrelated to your device.” said the personwho identified themselves as “Alisha”. “We will post an update to this thread once the fix is rolled out.”
