‘Reckless’ man stole a delivery driver’s 1,500-euro bike left outside restaurant, court hearing

A man caught with a stolen e-bike has admitted he took a risk “buying it for €50 to a certain foreigner on Moore Street”, a court heard.
ardaí became suspicious when they saw Graham Nolan (26 years old) riding a bicycle on an inner city road, but unable to ride.
Judge Bryan Smyth granted him a four-month suspended sentence at Dublin District Court.
Nolan, of Rathvilly Drive, Finglas, pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property.
The court heard the case that happened at Summerhill Parade at 12:20 on January 24 last year.
Gardaí saw the defendant in possession of the bicycle under suspicious circumstances – he was unable to pedal it.
When Garda Gerard Hanahoe When asked where he got the bike, Nolan said “he bought it for €50 for a foreigner on Moore Street.”
Asked more about this, Nolan said he “just jumped on it because it was a good deal”.
Nolan is arrested and the gardener locates the injured party, a Brazilian delivery driver who needs the bicycle for a living. It was worth €1,500 and was stolen from outside a restaurant.
Nolan had 41 previous convictions.
Nolan suffered from a severe addiction for a long time, she started taking drugs at a young age to quit after a traumatic childhood. He’s waiting for a place in rehab.
The judge suspended the sentence for two years.
