A flood warning has been issued in the district.
Flooding is expected in Hellingly and Horsebridge from the Cuckmere River and Bull River.
This could affect Mill Lane, Station Road and the A271 at Lower Horsebridge near Hailsham.
Yellow flood warnings are in place for other nearby locations including the Pevensey coast, Langney Haven near Polegate and Combe Haven near Bexhill.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: “Flooding is expected in this area. This means that properties are at risk of flooding.
“Please take steps to protect yourself and your property and monitor local weather and river conditions.
“Avoid contacting, walking or driving through flood water. Consider activating any flood protection products you may have.”
The A22 Golden Jubilee Way near Eastbourne was closed southbound this morning after flooding was reported on the southbound carriageway.
There are also yellow flood warnings for the River Uck at Uckfield, Upper Ouse near Haywards Heath, and Climping Seafront and Aldingbourne and Barnham Rifes near Littlehampton.
This means that flooding is possible in these areas.
