Registration for PvP Beta in Overwatch 2 Opened, Will Start Late April, Game Director Committed to Better Communication

Blizzard has opened registration for the upcoming release Overwatch 2 PvP beta, slated to open at the end of next month. There are also some new details on what to expect as the beta unfolds, including a new hero, new mode, and new map.

With the above work Overwatch 2 Having been silent for a while, many may be wondering just when we will see motion on the game. Well, it looks like the answer to that is this spring.

Game director Aaron Keller is featured in a video about the game’s location, and even mentions the previous disappointing lack of communication with players:

“We realize we have been communicating badly, not keeping you up to date, and to be honest, we have let you down when it comes to delivering Overwatch Content.” He then pledged that there will be more communication and updates and in the process of reworking Overwatch 2, they aim to make sure it’s a lively game with regularly updated content.

Currently, they’re isolating the PvP features to get that mode into the hands of players sooner and separating it from the PvE experience (which is set to follow).

Next month’s 5v5 PvP beta will bring a new hero, Sojourn, along with hero remakes for Orisa, Doomfist, Sombra, and Bastion. This first PvP beta also features a new ping system.

There will be four new maps to play with. New maps include two returning modes, with Circuit Royal, a new Escort map, and Midtown, a Hybrid map. Both New Queen Street and Colosseo are new Push maps. Push is a brand new mode that debuted in the PvP beta, so there’s a reason two of the new maps have it.

A closed alpha for Blizzard employees and select Overwatch pro starts this week, but if you want to join the first PvP beta test next month, you can sign up here.
