leicester traveled to Roazhon Park for the second leg of the round of 16 on Thursday evening and started the game with a 2-0 aggregate lead. The two sides enjoyed a thrilling encounter in northern France, with Leicester progressing to the quarter-finals despite a 2-1 defeat in the evening.
The hosts took the lead just eight minutes into the second leg when Benjamin Bourigeaud fired in a cross from Martin Terrier. But Leicester regained their two-goal aggregate advantage when he made it Wesley Fofana, in his first game back since breaking his leg in August, he headed into Ademola Lookman’s corner.
However, Brendan Rodgers’ men worked up a sweat in a frantic game as Rennes once again came from behind when Flavien Tait struck a low shot with 15 minutes to go. Leicester defended heroically to secure victory and set up a quarter-final game with PSV Eindhoven.
But as they celebrate the win, things off the pitch have left a sour taste in the mouth. That’s as pictures have surfaced of the ‘state’ in which Leicester left their dressing room at Roazhon Park.
Rennes archivist @mattcharp has shared three images purporting to show the Foxes’ changing area. Garbage is strewn all over the floor, on the table in the middle of the room and on the benches under the hangers.

Bottles of water, Lucozade and Coca Cola were also left on the benches and not thrown away, while bananas were not eaten. Rennes bosses have slammed Leicester after the pictures were released and manager Bruno Genesio has blasted Rodgers’ men.
“It’s unworthy of a club that was champions of England, I find it totally unfortunate. I think we saw that once in Rennes and I think that was already an English club. A club’s image is reflected on the pitch, but also in how you leave a rival club. I can tell you that at Stade Rennais we always make sure to leave a clean dressing room,” he told Ouest France.
Rennes leader Jacques Delanoe was also unimpressed by Leicester’s actions. Delanoe compared the foxes to their own kind First League sides and aimed at the notion of British fair play.
“It went very well, they welcomed us well in Leicester and we welcomed them well in Rennes. Unfortunately we’ve had the opportunity to taste England’s famous fair play bitterly in the past, here’s proof once again that gentlemen are undoubtedly more on the side of Brittany than Britain,” he said.
Ironically, Rodgers had praised his Foxes side for their “character” after the win. He also welcomed the younger members of his team as Leicester remain plagued by injuries.
“Our football in the game, especially in the first half, was nowhere near what I expected. What we showed tonight was real character, especially with missing players and a lot of young players trying this level for the first time. It’s character-building for them,” he said.
