Responder fans find clues there will be a second series after the finale leaving ‘unanswered questions’

THE Responder fans have spotted a clue there will be a second series finale after some “unanswered questions”.
While there has been no official confirmation that Martin Freeman will return to the screen in the police drama – viewers think they have been paused.
Wednesday night saw the final season of five dramatic episodes of the BBC’s latest political drama premiere, taking viewers by surprise.
The short series – written by Tony Schumacher – saw Merseyside cop Chris Carson, played by actor Martin, 50, struggling with his mental health.
Previous episodes saw Chris involved in helping young heroin addict Casey – played by Emily Fairn – get out of trouble from a drug cartel.
The cop finds himself trapped in a web of lies as he tries his best to help Casey return the drugs she stole along with those seized by the police.
Trying to save their marriage and deal with growing panic attacks ahead of the fifth episode, fans wonder if it all comes crashing down.
The fifth season, however, saw some surprises – including Chris’ co-worker Rachel, played by Adelayo Adedayo, refusing to hand him over.
Keeping her secret, Rachel seems to have sided with her work partner, as well as Chris’s wife – who admits she lied for his sake.
However, many fans feel the series still leaves some questions unanswered, including whether Rachel will take the secret to the grave.
Taking to Twitter, many people posited that the second series could follow newly recruited Rachel as she tries to keep it a secret, as they feel there is unfinished business.
“Not quite sure about the ending, but maybe there will be a season two? Either way, great TV,” one fan began the debate after the show.
“Impressed with the acting and also the story, I actually felt the ending was a bit scary. But maybe open the door for season 2?” one second agreed.
“The wonderful and gripping drama makes the final episode weak and incomprehensible,” the third season harshly, as the fourth season concludes: “A little over.”
Others defended the BBC drama’s ending – as they also agreed that things had been “left open for a second series”.
“Brilliant from start to finish. Glide: Left open for a second season,” wrote one fan, shortly afterwards saying, “Don’t wait two years to write a second season!”
Earlier this week, The Responder fans were agitated by the name of a drunken character who appeared in episode four.
The character nearly crashes into police officers Chris Carson and Rachel Hargreaves before falling out the door wearing long pants.
