Revealed: The jobs with the biggest pay rises in 2022 as disclosed median wages

Jobs in the technology, finance and construction sectors saw the biggest pay increases in 2022, according to recruitment firm Hays Ireland.

Oles in machine learning saw the biggest pay rises this year, with wages rising 31 percent over the year.

A machine learning analyst in Ireland can now expect an average annual salary of €85,000. Professionals working in other tech jobs also saw earnings growth over the year. Salaries for a site reliability engineer rose 31 percent to €85,000 in 2022, while salaries for a full-stack developer rose almost a quarter to €80,000.

A reinsurance underwriter’s wages also rose 29% over the year to €51,250, while a VAT accountant’s wages rose 16% to €56,760 over the same period.

In the construction sector, jobs such as building assistant and qualified technician were in demand, with salaries increasing by 24 percent and 18 percent, respectively.

A talent and resource partner’s salary in HR would have increased 22% this year to €59,500.

“The increase in machine learning salaries reflects the technological growth of recent years, and we expect the application of AI and machine learning to continue to accelerate in the years to come, which can only be good news for those with the appropriate skills can. ‘ said Maureen Lynch, operations manager of Hays Ireland.

Research from Hays Ireland also found that more than three quarters of employers in Ireland have now committed to increasing salaries over the next year.

This was primarily due to the cost of living crisis, although employers also highlighted the need for wage increases to attract and retain talent.

Skills shortages remain a major concern for employers, with 92pc in 2022 struggling to find candidates with specific skills.

The report also found that overall 84 per cent of Irish employers increased salaries in 2022, up from 56 per cent the year before.

Despite continued economic uncertainty, the majority of Irish companies plan to expand their workforce over the next year.

Around 90 percent plan to hire new talent in 2023, with three quarters of those hires expected to be full-time and permanent.
