I love movies about musicians, but this one in particular makes it hard for me to breathe. Bowie is one of those artists whose death broke my heart, and made me realize that his work was like a soundtrack to my life. As silly as it sounds, it occurred to me that some of the music he created was already in my consciousness before I knew who made it or what it was about. That may be relevant to when I was growing up, but whatever it is, I’m happy to hear that we’ll learn more about him and revisit his work on the IMAX screens.
“Moonage Daydream” was produced by Morgen and his production company Public Road Productions, with Bowie’s longtime collaborator Tony Visconti serving as music producer.
Moonage Daydream illuminates the life and genius of David Bowie, one of the finest and most influential artists of our time. Told through stunning, sublime cinematography, performances and music like never before, Brett Morgen’s (The Kid Stays in the Picture, Cobain: Montage of Heck, Jane) is about an experiential cinematic adventure that can length that explores David Bowie’s creative, musical and spiritual journey. The film is narrated by David Bowie himself and is the first official film about the artist.
Neon’s “Moonage Daydream” will premiere exclusively at IMAX on September 16, 2022.
