Revolut begins silent testing of joint accounts

Revolut has taken another step towards becoming a full-featured alternative to the traditional banks in recent days with the quiet introduction of an exclusive waiting list for testing joint accounts.

Last week the fintech announced with much fanfare that its two million Irish customers would soon be issued with an Irish Iban, but the announcement of the joint accounts was much more understated.

“Joint accounts are coming!” said an in-app message to a select group of customers, who offered access to a waitlist for an “exclusive first look at joint accounts ahead of official release.”

Those selected to register can nominate their “spouse, friend, roommate, grandmother, sibling” or “any duo” as part of the exclusive test, it said.

Joint accounts would be another small step toward providing a full suite of banking services for consumers looking to ditch their traditional bank accounts.

It’s not known for sure if or when the new joint accounts feature will roll out to Revolut’s full two million Irish customer base. When contacted, a Revolut spokesman declined to give details.

Last week it also launched a waitlist for another new product called Ultra, which adds a new premium paid tier above its Premium and Metal membership structure with cashback on purchases, free lounge access at 1,200 airports, new investment products, and other upcoming features .

The question is, will joint accounts be one of those new exclusive features or will they be available to everyone?
