Rex Orange Country scores first UK number one album

Rex Orange County launched Who Cares? landed his first UK number one album. after defeating stiff competition from Swedish rockers Ghost.

The musician, whose real name is Alexander James O’Connor, landed at number one with his fourth studio album after releasing BCos U Will Never B Free in 2015 and Apricot Princess in 2017, which he released independently before he released “Pony” with RCA in 2019.

According to the Official Charts Company, the Swedish metal group Ghost entered the album charts at number two with their fifth studio album Impera.

Canadian superstar Bryan Adams is a third-place debut with So Happy It Hurts, while Ed Sheeran is fourth-place with =.

Country duo The Shires’ fifth album, 10 Year Plan, hits the charts at five.

Remaining at the top of the singles chart, rapper Dave spent a second week at number one with Starlight after the track secured the biggest week of audio streams of the year so far with 6.5 million.

Aitch is second with Baby, which samples R&B star Ashanti’s 2003 hit Rock Wit U (Awww Baby), giving her her first UK Top 10 track since 2005.

Fireboy DML and Ed Sheeran’s Peru slip to third, while Where Are You Now by Lost Frequencies feat. Calum Scott took fourth place and Make Me Feel Good by Belters Only feat. Jazzy relegated to five.
