Rhod Gilbert shares health update after cancer diagnosis

Gilbert has told fans he’s recovering well following surgery and rounds of radiation and chemotherapy.

He said: “A big thank you to everyone who has reached out to you. Reading all of your messages of support was a welcome distraction and really lifted me up. So thanks.

“There’s been a lot in the press lately, so I thought I’d clear up any confusion; my cancer diagnosis occurred earlier this year (it’s not a new development). I have since undergone surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy at Velindre Cancer Center and UHW, Cardiff.”

He added: “Thanks to her tireless dedication and incredible care and the many wonderful support from friends, family and all of you. I’m resting well, laughing a lot and feeling happy and positive; we are all optimistic that I will get through this.

“I’m making plans for 2023 so keep an eye out here for info on comedy stuff; there were loads of laughs at odd points, so I won’t be short on material.

A regular guest on shows like Would I Lie To You?, QI, and Mock The Week, Gilbert also hosted the final season of Never Mind The Buzzcocks in 2015.
