RMT train strikes planned for Bonfire Night suspended

Train strikes meant to affect traffic across Brighton have now been suspended.

According to the railway union RMT, the strikes, which were supposed to take place over the weekend and into next week, will now not take place.

The union says they will enter “a period of intense negotiations” to settle a wage dispute with Network Rail and other rail companies.

Strikes were expected to disrupt service from Saturday 5 November to Wednesday 9 November.

A spokesman for Govia Thameslink said some smaller routes, including Lewes to the Bonfire, would not operate in the short term.
