Lewandowski and Müller start Bayern training before the duel against Villarreal

Barcelona have offered Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski the ‘Lionel Messi role’ at the Camp Nou in order to sign the striker.

Lewandowski has allegedly said the Bundesliga giants that he “won’t sign a new contract” as he has already created a new club as a Polish TV channel TVP sports claims Barca are behind the wheel to secure the player’s signature. The 33-year-old striker was Shot on goal in Bayern’s quarter-finals in the Champions League against Villarreal but the strike was not enough to save them from a shock elimination.

earlier this week, Bayern boss Oliver Kahn poured cold water on suggestions that the Poland international would leave the club as he nears entering the final 12 months of his contract. That prompted Barca boss Xavi is said to address the transfer rumors directly The forward has scored a whopping 47 goals so far this season, surpassing the 40 goal mark in seven straight seasons.

Lewandowski is out of contract in Munich in the summer of 2023 and if there is no agreement before next year, he will be free to negotiate with other clubs from January 1, 2023. A report in diary sports has now explained that Barca tell the player that he will take over the managerial role that had been vacated by him Lionel Messi at the Camp Nou – both as a key attacking player and as a leader in the dressing room.

Bayern boss Kahn also gave an update on Lewandowski’s situation this weekend amidst the rumor mill: “We are currently in contact with him, we are talking, we want him to stay as long as possible,” explained Kahn. When asked by the former Germany international goalkeeper why the extension was taking so long, Kahn explained that a deal of this magnitude “takes time”.

He added: “It’s not a game. We have to consider our economic conditions. The top players sometimes think about trying other things and it takes a while to convince them.” When asked if Lewandowski wasn’t happy at Bayern, Kahn added: “Tell me if there’s a player who is unhappy and has scored 30 to 40 goals a season.”

As of today, contract talks between Lewandowski and Bayern have come to a standstill, but the club will look to restart talks in the coming weeks and months. If no agreement can be reached between the player and the club, he is free from January 1, 2023 to talk to other clubs and sign a preliminary contract outside FC Bayern.
