Ukraine: Refugees shed tears while talking to Rob Rinder

Robert Rinder has shared heartbreaking photos of him standing in solidarity with the family of former Serious Dance Partner Oksana Platero, who escaped war-torn Ukraine as he continues to report from the front lines .

The 43-year-old criminal lawyer and TV star made it on her own to offer support and help to the family of Ukrainian professional dancer Oksana, 33 when the Serious star was stuck by commitments working in America while war ravages her country due to Vladimir Putin’s illegal invasion of the European nation.

The Judge Rinder star – who teamed up with Oksana on season 14 of Seriously Back in 2016 – has updated fans and followers via social media as he looks to find family members your friends and bring the supplies to them.

On Wednesday, he revealed that he had finally found Oksana’s grandmother and aunt, who had been displaced by the war.

Sharing pictures on Instagram of a tearful meeting with family members of his dance partner, Rob wrote: “Oksana’s family: Aunt Lidya and Grandma Zoya.

“We tried to reach them this morning with a wheelchair and some medical supplies.. Although it was almost nothing.. but they were ‘grateful for everything’.”

His post received multiple messages of support – with 2016’s Serious star Daisy Lowe writing: “Absolutely unbelievable” alongside a string of red heart emojis.

While one fan commented: “Oh my gosh, this warms my heart. Well done to your perseverance and determination. Hopefully they will be safe and healthy soon. “

Rob documented every step of his trip to the Polish/Ukrainian border, where he met many other refugees, whose lives had been thrown into chaos by the Russian invasion.

Earlier, he shared a photo of Oksana’s grandmother, writing online: “Oksana’s grandmother is 95 years old.

“She spent a week fleeing Russian shelling & FINALLY crossed the Polish border without a wheelchair, food or medical supplies but she was determined & strong.

“She remembers the last war and knows that eventually they will return home and Tyranny will fail.”

He also spoke on ITV earlier this week detailing the Oksana family’s struggles.

Rob sadi: “What a gift to be able to give something back to Oksana – as silly as it is for this setting – to have had such fun at Serious and I love it bit by bit .

“Then I found out that her family was trying to flee Ukraine, avoid shelling, and tried to cross the border a few days ago.”

He continued: “This is a story that illustrates the situation people are in. The 95-year-old lady doesn’t have a wheelchair, so we have to cite the source. They don’t have medication.

“Hopefully, we’ll try to capture as much as we can and finally go and reunite with him what they need tomorrow morning.”

Fans are overjoyed that he’s succeeded – with a line below his photo update with the Oksana family on Tuesday: “It’s heartbreaking, but you are an inspiration and make a difference. great difference…thanks for everything you’re doing. ”
