Roberta Flack has ALS and can’t sing anymore, manager says

Grammy-winning musician Roberta Flack has ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, and is unable to sing anymore, a rep said.
Flack’s manager, Suzanne Koga, said in a press release that his progressive illness “has made it impossible for him to sing and speak not easily”.
“But it will take more than ALS to mute this icon.”
The announcement of the diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis came shortly before the premiere of Roberta, a feature-length documentary that premiered on Thursday at the DOCNYC film festival.

The release states that the Grammy-winning singer-pianist, now 85, “plans to continue to actively pursue her music and creativity.”
