Roberto De Zerbi said he chose not to change his Albion side because he enjoyed their performance.
The Seagulls were held 0-0 by Nottingham Forest in the Amex.
De Zerbi only made two changes in the second half.
He brought in Tariq Lamptey for Adam Lallana and Deniz Undav for Pascal Gross after 64 minutes.
Other offensive players remained on the bench while Albion looked for a breakthrough.
Head coach De Zerbi said: “In this situation you are in a balance.
“If you change anything else, you can lose the game. It’s not the right decision.
“If you don’t change it, it’s like you didn’t have the guts to win the game.
“I think Lamptey played very well, 20 or 25 minutes.
“I feel sorry for Pascal because I wanted to use another striker in this situation, but not because Pascal played badly.
“Other changes? For me the team was good and I didn’t want to change anything.
“I was happy to see this level of play.”
