Adam Lallana is under his new boss for a first start tonight.
But Roberto De Zerbi has hinted further changes could be kept to a minimum when Albion take on Nottingham Forest at the Amex (7.30pm).
Lallana has looked good off the bench following his injury and the manager believes he can help unlock the defense even if he doesn’t make it through the 90 minutes.
Perhaps tellingly, when asked about the ex-Liverpooler’s offers, he compared Lallana’s qualities to those of Pascal Gross.
De Zerbi said: “Lallana is a very important player for us.
“He’s good to start the game and after the first half we’ll see his condition and think about the second half.
“But Lallana is a beginner.
“He has different qualities than any other player.
“Between the lines he is maybe the best player.
“He’s different from Gross. Rough is better when you have to attack the room, for example.
“Lallana is one of the best players in our squad in terms of the last pass, finding spaces between the lines and finding the combination with Welbeck and Trossard.”
De Zerbi finalized his formation and tactics yesterday but indicated he was not tempted to make sweeping changes after performances he deserved more.
He said: “The coach has to decide some important things every week.
“The first XI is important.
“When you decide something, you don’t know if it’s right or wrong.
“But the coach has to decide beforehand.
“There are important decisions, but if the team is playing well, it’s not right to change more.”
