Roberto De Zerbi endorses Adam Lallana as future head coach

Roberto de Zerbi has supported Adam Lallana to become a very good head coach.

But for now, he’s welcome to count on his help as a highly experienced older player.

Lallana has returned to a purely playing role after helping the caretaker coaching staff put in place when Graham Potter left the club.

But he still had input at the training ground as De Zerbi settled into Premier League life.

De Zerbi said: “Maybe Adam is one of the players I’ve developed one of the best relationships with here.

“He helped me a lot, as did my employees.

“I think he can become a very good head coach, but at the moment he’s still a very strong player and I think I can count on him a lot.”

De Zerbi will examine midfield options with his recruiting team, which now includes Salvatore Monaco, after Enock Mwepu was forced to retire due to heart disease.

The Seagulls boss said, “Maybe, maybe we can change something, because with Enock and without Enock is not the same.

“But right now I’m just concentrating on the game, my work.

“There will be a time to talk, meet with the club, with Salvatore Monaco, the scouts, to organize the next transfer market and decide what positions we need to look at.” Roberto De Zerbi endorses Adam Lallana as future head coach
