Roberto De Zerbi would ‘take’ the call from Brighton.

A former Serie A and Champions League head coach is doing his homework in the Albion squad.

Roberto De Zerbi has made up the Seagulls’ games as he hopes to get the job at Amex.

He is among the many names linked to the post vacated by Graham Potter’s ‘hurricane’ move to Chelsea.

The 43-year-old Italian led Minnows Sassuolo to two eighth places in the top flight and was later in charge of Shakhtar Donetsk, with whom he competed in Europe.

SportItalia chief executive and long-time friend of De Zerbi, Michele Criscitiello, said there had been initial communication between Albion and the manager and expected further contacts earlier this week.

Criscitello told The Argus: “He watches all Brighton games. If the club confirms a specific interest, they would agree to come.”

He said de Zerbi liked the attitude and mentality of the Albion players. Roberto De Zerbi would ‘take’ the call from Brighton.
