Rod Stewart, Lewis Capaldi and Paolo Nutini recognized at Scottish Music Awards

Lewis Capaldi, Sir Rod Stewart and Paolo Nutini were among the winners at this year’s Scottish Specsavers Music Awards.

he returned to Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom for a second time raising funds for the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Charity.

The outstanding achievement in music awards went to Sir Rod, who also performed live at the ceremony.

Scottish star Lewis Capaldi took home Raymond Weil’s Global Artist of the Year award.

The singer Someone Loved said the ceremony was where he was presented with his first music award.

His comeback track Forget Me topped the charts upon its release in September.

Paolo Nutini was also recognized at the event as he won awards for best album and best live vocals following his comeback after a 4-year hiatus.

Scottish singer Gerry Cinnamon was awarded the King Tut songwriting award of the night.

Sandra Schembri, chief executive officer of Nordoff Robbins, said: “What a great night at the Specsavers Scottish Music Awards.

“We are humbled by the continued support of the Scottish music industry for Nordoff Robins and grateful to all the winners and performers who joined us at Barrlowlands during the year.

“The money raised through SMA will go directly towards our mission of continuing to share the power of music as widely as possible, helping people connect and communicate through music therapy.”

Other winners include Clare Grogan from new wave band Altered Images, who won a living legend award.

Social media star Rianne Downey was given the breakout award, while Tamzene, the show’s opener, won the rising star award.

The View was awarded special recognition, while Wet Leg was named best UK artist.

And Bros bassist turned record label owner Craig Logan was recognized by the music industry’s award-winning Go Radio.

The 24th edition of the awards is hosted by Edith Bowman, of Scotland.
