Roedean School in Brighton appoints a new Headmaster

A boarding school has appointed a new principal.

Niamh Green will take over as Director of the Roedean School in Brighton from Summer 2023.

Ms Green, who is currently Deputy Head of the Mayfield School, also served as Deputy Head during the last school year (2021-22).

With over 20 years experience in all girls’ boarding and day schools, she has previously held a number of academic and pastoral roles including Head of Department and Headmaster at Woldingham School, Surrey, Caretaker at Sherborne Girls, Dorset, and Deputy Head of Pastoral Care at Godolphin School, Salisbury.

A graduate of University College Dublin in French and History with an MA in International Relations from Sussex University, Ms Green completed her PGCE at Cambridge University in French with German.

She also has a Masters of Business Administration in Educational Leadership from the University of Central London.

Ms Green said she was “honored” to take over the reins from current boss Oliver Blond.

“I am honored and privileged to have been appointed to lead Roedean,” she said.

“In addition to the excellent reputation, I have been hugely impressed with the dedication and enthusiasm of the staff and girls I have met and I look forward to getting to know the rest of the community.

“I am very much looking forward to leading Roedean in the next phase of its development, building on the excellent work and strong foundation laid by current leader Oliver Blond.”
