Rogue Jam 2022: How to watch and what to expect

IGN and Rogue Games have teamed up to produce Rogue Jam, an all-new game jam offering not only publishing deals to indie developers, but also a total of $800,000 in prize money to be used to bring their game to life . Developers from around the world submitted their unreleased games late last year, and the Rogue Jam judging panel, which includes IGN EVP and CCO Peer Schneider and former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé, has been busy for the past few months spent picking the best of the best.

The winning games and developers will be announced starting April 18th and this watch guide will help you not to miss anything and see some of the biggest and brightest indie games that might one day become your new favorite.

Showcase start times of Rogue Jam 2022 winners

Rogue Jame winners’ showcases begin April 18 with the premiere of Episode 1 – Huge Potential. The awards will be broadcast each day prior to the announcement of the overall winner on Friday April 22nd. The full schedule is as follows;

  • Episode 1 – Huge potential: Monday, April 18 at 9am PT/12pm ET/5pm BST / Tuesday, April 19 at 2am AEST.
  • Episode 2 – Stunningly Beautiful: Monday, April 25 at 9am PT/12pm ET/5pm BST / Tuesday, April 26 at 2am AEST.
  • Episode 3 – WTF?: Monday, May 2nd at 9am PT/12pm ET/5pm BST / Tuesday, May 3rd at 2am AEST.
  • Episode 4 – Overall Winner: Monday, May 9th at 9am PT/12pm ET/5pm BST / Tuesday, May 10th at 2am AEST.
  • Episode 5 – Audience Choice: Monday, May 16 at 9am PT/12pm ET/5pm BST / Tuesday, May 17 at 2am AEST.

What to expect from the showcases of the Rogue Jam 2022 winners

The Rogue Jam 2022 Winners Showcases will honor and recognize outstanding indie games that have impressed a jury that, as previously mentioned, includes IGN EVP and CCO Peer Schneider and former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé. The full list of judges is as follows:

  • Kimberly Pointer Corbett, senior vice president of digital publishing at Warner Bros. Games
  • Reggie Fils-Aimé, Former President of Nintendo of America, Board Advisor at Rogue Games
  • Peer Schneider, Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer of IGN
  • Chris Lee, Netflix Head of Game Sourcing and Interactive Games
  • Matt Casamassina, CEO of Rogue Games
  • Chris Archer, Chief Strategy Officer of Rogue Games

There will be a total of five winners in five different categories, and each of them will award a specific prize to the selected indie developer. Each game will be judged on Fun, Originality, Presentation, Polish and The Rogue Factor and the categories and prizes are as follows:

  • overall winner: $500,000 and a rogue publishing deal
  • WTF?: $100,000 and a rogue publishing deal
  • Breathtakingly beautiful: $100,000 and a rogue publishing deal
  • Huge potential: $50,000 and Rogue first refusal
  • Target group selection: $50,000 and Rogue first refusal

The games were selected after a two-month window, during which the judges had ample time to try out the games and discuss each one with the other panelists. While we don’t have a full list of potential winners, the top three games in the Audience Choice category have been and are announced I’m not jelly myplaced, and Cold happiness.
