Roman Kemp says he’s ‘really, really scared’ after being pepper sprayed by police at the Champions League final.
The 29-year-old was in Paris to watch matches against Liverpool and Real Madrid.
The game was delayed due to the chaotic scenes outside the grounds Roman was unfortunately caught up in.
Speaking on Capital Breakfast this morning, the star spoke of the “horrible” conditions in which 20,000 Liverpool fans are being ‘swallowed’ into the stadium.
“The second we went there, it was immediate hostility,” he said.
“One of my friends was having a panic attack and was like, ‘I just need to get out.
The star then revealed how he choked on tears.
“The police… they were just laughing at the fans and then all of a sudden tear gas started hurling at us, pepper spray started coming out of our heads,” he said.
“Everybody was trying to help their baby.
“It was the worst experience I’ve had on a football field.
“It’s really, really scary.”
Roman is actually wearing a Real Madrid shirt and insists the Liverpool fans are not at fault.
He said: “It’s discrimination against Liverpool fans. And the reason I say they should investigate it, because when we got there, all the Real Madrid fans were in it.”
The presenter, who is the son of Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp, is one of radio’s most popular stars.
However, he recently revealed his plans to give up showbiz for 5 years.
Roman has hinted at his long-term goal of staying out of the limelight after he was diagnosed with sleep apnea.
Talking to Online emailhe said: “‘My fatigue level has gone down, and they told me it was because of my job and I said this was different.
“The doctors told me I had to wear an oxygen mask. There’s absolutely nothing sexy about going back to Roman Kemp’s house.”
However, Capital fans don’t need to worry about this star coming out to the audience.
He plans to stay with the show to mark a major milestone, revealing, “I want at least a decade on the air.
“I’d love to be able to say I’ve been on that show for a decade – whether my bosses will allow it or not, I don’t know.”
