Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher got a good laugh on the most recent issue of Gary Neville’s The Overlap

Keane insists United were right to bring Ronaldo back to the club – suggesting he could win them a trophy – while Carragher thinks it was a huge mistake.

“Obviously, Jamie was wrong,” Keane joked as the debate continued on The Overlap. “He’s talking about winning trophies. It’s about winning trophies for Man United at the moment.”

Carragher replied: “He told me Manchester United Sign Ronaldo to win the FA Cup, that’s amazing isn’t it! ”

Keane then said: “We’re still in the Champions League, you never know!”

After hearing laughter from the crowd, Keane glanced at Carragher and added: “We’ve seen teams worse than Man United win the Champions League.”

The United legend is referring to Liverpool’s famous Champions League win over AC Milan in Istanbul 2005.

The Reds – who finished fifth in Premier League that season – won the match on penalties after coming back from 3-0 up at half-time.

Keane’s spat with Carragher in November erupted when the former United captain declared: “Ronaldo will never take United back with trophies.”

Arrive there Liverpool icon replied: “What’s the point of signing him?! He’s 37 years old!”

Keane then asked: “Did you win the FA Cup?”

Carragher replied, “Yes, I did, I did!”

And then Keane said: “Yes, so let’s get back to winning the FA Cup.

“They’ve reached the next round of the Champions League, how much do you think that’s worth to the club. Glazer house and price share – that’s what he’s back!”

Carragher, however, was not pleased to let the debate end there, replying: “If you finish second and then sign Ronaldo at the age of 36, you won’t win the League for another four years.

“If you sign someone at 36, that’s you win now. If you sign Varane, a four-time Champions League and World Cup winner, that’s win now. hour.

“Are they closer to winning the league?”

Keane later said: “No. He’s not coming back to win the championship.”

Carragher asked: “So what did he come back for?! What is he here for?”

Carragher then replied: “You said Ronaldo didn’t come to win the League title, what did he come here for?!”

And Keane replied, “For the cups.”

United were knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship outfit Middlesbrough at Old Trafford earlier this month, losing their fourth-round match on penalties.
