Roy Keane names only THREE Man Utd stars he will keep as club legend urges next boss to oversee transfer cleanup

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Roy Keane has announced that he will keep only THREE players in his current squad.

United are really in danger of being outside the top 4 when they have only won 1 of the last 4 matches in the Premier League.

Coach Ralf Rangnick’s team is ranked 7th – 5 points behind the 4th ranked team, West Ham.

And Keane has only named three players with whom he will build the team around him insisting that ‘hungry’ and ‘quality’ players must be brought to Old Trafford.

Keane was on specialist duty for Sky Sports when United took a two-goal lead at Villa Park.

Speaking after the game, the Irishman was asked by Jamie Redknapp how many players he could rely on in his current squad.

In response, Keane said, “How much would I keep you? I don’t know, I really don’t.”

Host David Jones then pressed Keane on whether he would keep Bruno Fernandes.

Keane replied: “Yes. Oh yes Bruno, people like [Cristiano] Ronaldo, all is not doom and gloom.

“You have [Raphael] Varane, you have some good young players there. “

Intervening, Redknapp then hinted at Rangnick’s uncertainty at full-back with men in charge of Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles for game time in recent weeks.

Commenting on Redknapp’s views, Keane said how often the manager is directly next to move for some players.

He commented: “Obviously not. But of course a new manager has come in, he might think I like the job.

“But I’m talking about if a top coach comes in, at least for a good starting point, you can look at some senior players and at least their contracts are up.

“I can keep moving them and bring in some fresh, hungry quality players into Manchester United.”

Keane later said that Marcus Rashford, who was absent from the draw with Villa due to injury, looked ‘disappeared’ whenever he appeared for the club.

He said: “He’s done incredible things over the last few years, amazing, on and off the pitch, but clearly something is wrong.

“I looked at him on Monday night [in the FA Cup against Villa and thought], ‘The lights are on, but the house is empty’. The child looks lost. Something is wrong.

“Sometimes with young players it’s confidence, it can be anything to do on the pitch, it can be something off the pitch.

“The club has to help him, the senior players have to help the young players. There are a lot of shortcomings at Man United at the moment that need to be fixed.”
