RTE star Kathryn Thomas has shared about experiencing “every parent’s worst nightmare” after her daughter Grace was born.
The Operation Transformation host and her husband Padraig McLoughlin welcomed Grace back in October and also shared 3-year-old Ellie.
Kathryn panics when Grace was taken to the hospital with shortness of breath that was later diagnosed as bronchiolitis.
The telly said: “It was absolutely horrible, every parent’s worst nightmare.
“I was fine until I got to the ER door and fell apart.
“You give the most precious thing in the world to people you don’t even know, but who you implicitly trust.
“Grace was tested for meningitis, sepsis and had a lumbar puncture.”
Kathryn commends the staff at Crumlin Children’s Hospital for their hard work.
She told RTE Guide: “It was horrible. I know it’s nothing like it, but they had to take those precautions, including giving her intravenous antibiotics, prevent sepsis or meningitis.
“The staff were incredible, they were walking angels, and after three days we were home and everything was fine.”
This comes after Kathryn revealed she will be missing from Operation Transformation this week due to Covid-19 and that Ray D’Arcy will fill it out for her.
Active Switching is back early last week and viewers got the chance to meet the five leaders.
Kathryn took to her Instagram to explain that she would be absent from the show this week when she tested positive for an antigen.
She begins the video by saying, “Good morning, people don’t stay indoors too much as we’ve joined the ranks of self-isolation. Absolutely a nightmare.
“But we have been self-isolating since Tuesday because I received a positive antigen on Tuesday.
“Did a negative PCR test on Wednesday and I got it back and just to be sure I did another antigen on Thursday and the result was positive!
“So I don’t know at this stage you have to be Stephen Hawking to figure this out.”
