RTE star Ryan Tubridy praised Dancing With The Stars as a “lovely splash of color in a gray world”.
The radio host said how he was “incredibly delighted” with the show last night when six other celebs took to the dance floor on the second episode of the season.
There is no vote until next week and Ryan has revealed who will be backers to raise the Glitterball Trophy.
He said on RTE Radio 1: “I also watched Dancing With The Stars last night.
“Jumped from Dublin Castle to Ardmore Studios and I must say they all had a good break.
“Good athletic Billy McGuinness, Aengus MacGrianna, Matthew McNabb.
“But I think if you’re a bettor, you’d head to Jordan Conroy, Erica Cody and Ellen Keane as runner-up and top-scoring racer in Dancing With The Stars.
“Though it’s the first two weeks. I think the voting is on – it starts entering the Hunger Games with sequins next week right?
“Someone starts getting kicked and the real fun begins as long as you’re not in it.”
Ryan added that DWTS is bringing some much-needed brightness to the nation.
He said: “It was a good show last night and it was a lovely patch of color in a gray world so everyone did a great job of it. I absolutely loved that.”
Last night’s record was broken when Erica Cody finished the first dance with the highest score ever with 24 points.
Erica took to the stage for the first time with professional dance partner Denys Samson.
The singer twirled on the floor as she and Denys danced the Samba to Kiss My (Uh Oh) by Anne-Marie and Little Mix.
She wowed the judges with her skills and viewers were also impressed with her dance performance in the first week.
The pair received a standing ovation from the crowd, and Loraine praised the “spark” and “attitude”.
Denys was very excited to be in Ireland as the judges scored.
The pair received eight points from all three judges, resulting in 24 – the highest-scoring first dance ever on DWTS.
RTE viewers flocked to Twitter to follow her gorgeous Samba dance to compliment her routine.
Linda tweeted: “Great performance @EricaCody and Denis. Well done. Well deserved 24 #DWTSIRL.”
