Vladimir Putin and Russia have suffered another blow when another colonel was killed during a fight in Ukraine.
Lieutenant Colonel Zaur Dimayev was deputy commander of the 4th Battalion of the Special Forces Regiment Akhmad Kadyrov.
He is said to be a close ally of Chechen warlord Ramzan Kadyrov.
He died in the artillery barrage of Ukrainians, reported the media agency Baza.
He was reportedly killed in the village of Komyshuvakha in Ukraine’s Zaporizhia region, making him the 49th colonel to die since the invasion began.
He was in a UAZ Patriot SUV vehicle that came under fire. Its driver was also killed instantly, it has been reported.

Dimayev’s commanding officer, Colonel Zamid Chalaev, 40, said this week that the colonel “enjoys” killing Ukrainians.
In a video newly posted by Kadyrov – a senior Chechnya leader – the commander, standing amid a group of fighters, said: “We want to say to everyone [Ukrainian] Shaytans, Nazis, Banderovtsy – if we kill them, we enjoy it.”
It comes as two other Russian colonels have been killed in Ukraine, including the country’s “top paratrooper commander”.

Lt. Col. Alexander Dosyagayev, 34, was commander of an airborne battalion of the 104th Parachute Regiment.
Troops from his 104th Air Assault Regiment were reportedly in Bucha, which was the scene of alleged rape and torture atrocities by Vladimir Putin’s forces earlier in the war.
His Pskov-based battalion had been recognized as the best in Russia in controlling combat training and military discipline.

Russian media outlet Mediazona confirmed the death of another colonel killed earlier in the war, which was not disclosed.
Colonel Vladimir Ivanov, 41, has been labeled a “propagandist” by the Ukrainian media because he worked in the Information and Mass Communications Department of the Russian Defense Ministry.
Dosyagayev and Ivanov are the 47th and 48th colonels known to have died fighting for Russian forces in Ukraine.
The number of generals is now estimated at ten.
It is likely that the true toll is higher among Putin’s higher ranks, as Russian officials have not released details of those killed in Ukraine.
Information on the known deaths comes from other sources.
