A Russian streamer who took a nude photo in front of a church faces a prison sentence for “insulting the religious sentiments of believers”.

The female streamer faces a fine of up to £3,000 or a year in prison if found guilty of “offending the religious sentiments of believers”.

Polina, who is tattooed from head to toe, is naked outside the Church of the Intercession of the Virgin Mary in Moscow, local media reported.

The photo was taken last summer and was only recently reported to the police.

The influencer has yet to comment but has closed her Instagram account where the controversial photo was posted.

It happened when the Kremlin blocked people from sharing hateful posts next to churches or state buildings.

Last year, an influential couple was sentenced to prison after they held a photo session rated X near St Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow.

Ruslan Bobiev, from Tajikistan, and his girlfriend Anastasia Chistova sparked outrage after a photo emerged of her wearing a police coat and simulating a sexual act as she crouched down in front of him.

The Cathedral in Red Square, Moscow, is considered an extremely popular cultural icon as well as a sacred site of the Russian Orthodox church.

The pair were arrested by the authorities for 10 days and fined 5,000 rubles (£51) and the court also ordered the deportation of Bobiev – whose real name is Ruslani Talabjon -.

They were later accused of “insulting religious feelings.”

Bobiev and Chistova were found guilty by Moscow’s Tverskoy district court and both were sentenced to 10 months in prison, according to state news agencies. TASS.

By law, a maximum jail term of one year can be imposed, but prosecutors have asked for a sentence of 10 months.
