Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have promised to use their fortune to help the people of Ukraine.
In the wake of Russia’s attacks on the country earlier this week, the Hollywood couple pledged up to $1 million in donations to help refugees leaving their homes.
On Saturday, the Deadpool actor, 45, took to Twitter to share a link to raise funds for the United Nations Refugee Agency to assist Ukrainian refugees.
Ryan explained how he and his wife Blake, 34, will combine donations ‘up to $1,000,000’ to create ‘double the donation’.

“In 48 hours, countless Ukrainians have been forced to flee their homes to neighboring countries,” Ryan wrote, citing a post by the nonprofit.
The father-of-three added: “They need to be protected. When you donate, we will match the amount up to 1,000,000 USD, generating double the amount of the donation.”
The original tweet from the UN Refugee Agency read: “Currently, the crisis in Ukraine is forcing families to leave their homes.
“Donate today to send lifesaving aid to displaced Ukrainians and @VancityReynolds & @blakelently will match your gift from $1 to $1 up to $1,000,000. “
In less than 12 hours, Ryan’s generous pledge has garnered over 50,000 ‘likes’ and thousands of replies from fans contributing to the cause – share screenshots of the services their currency.
Blake used an image of a mother with a child wearing a Ukrainian blue and yellow coat to share the announcement on Instagram.

Actress Zoe Saldana was among hundreds of people commenting on the post, adding a trio of clapping emojis to her close friend’s generous post.
Blake’s half-sister, Twin Peaks star Robyn Lively, also pledged her support, commenting, “Done! I love you more than that.”
Some 120,000 Ukrainians are believed to have been forced to leave their homeland after Russia began its invasion of the neighboring country on Thursday.
The United Nations has since warned that up to 4 million people could leave Ukraine if the Russian attacks continue.
Blake and Ryan’s pledge to support Ukrainian refugees isn’t the first time the pair have donated to a good cause this year.
Earlier this month, the couple – who got married in 2012 – donated $1 million to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect families around the world.
In 2020 – at the start of the pandemic – movie stars donated $500,000 each to organizations, continuing to support even more good causes in the following months.
