Ryan Tubridy asks Ed Sheeran to change his daughter’s diaper live on air

Ryan Tubridy asked Ed Sheeran to change his daughter’s diaper live on air while speaking to the host on the phone.

Interviewed by RTÉ Radio 1, singer Lyra Antarctica’s daughter Seaborn Sheeran could be heard in the background as Ed revealed Tubridy that she needed to change her diapers.

The presenter then urged him to change his diaper while addressing him, but said it was “impressive”. Bad habits Singer said he would wait until the interview was over.

This week Ed played an intimate gig at Whelans and another warm-up show at Vicar Street before he has two big gigs at Croke Park this weekend.

He will then move to Cork next week for two concerts at Páirc Uí Chaoimh before playing two more shows at Thomond Park, Limerick on May 5th and 6th.

The singer said Whelans is one of his favorite places because after seeing Damien Rice as a teenager, he was inspired to become a singer-songwriter.

“I wanted to see a Damien Rice show for under 18s [in Whelans] 20 years ago and it was the day I decided to be a singer-songwriter,” he said.

“I went to this concert and I saw a guy with an acoustic guitar controlling an audience and in that moment I realized that if I work hard enough I can do it, so it was nice to go back there.

“I go back there to hang out anyway, they do a good pint of Guinness, but it’s also a great music venue.”

As for Vicar Street, Ed said he believes it is the best music venue in Europe.

“I think it’s the best place in Europe in terms of intimacy. It’s a big venue, but when you play the show you can see everyone at any time, it’s not like there’s a lot of different floors,” he said.

The Lego House singer said he visited Ireland four times a year as a child and wants to make sure his daughter and future children have a connection to the land of his ancestors too.

“I have family here so I spend time with my wife and daughter and I have a lot of family here in Ireland so I see and meet them in Dublin and I have family in Cork and Limerick. It’s a family affair,” he said.

“I used to come here four times a year as a kid and always spent my birthday here to show my daughter the culture her family is from, it’s so nice to be here for the first time.

“It’s such a part of my family and I don’t want to lose that. I want my children to experience the same things as me.”

Ed said he’d love to buy a house in Ireland at some point, but he probably wouldn’t tell anyone if he did.

As for his set list for his Croke Park gigs, the British pop star said it’s about finding a balance between what people want to hear but also playing what they don’t expect.

“I have to find a balance between everything that people want to hear, there are some songs that I cut out of the set that are big hits, but because there can only be 22 songs you have to choose really carefully.”
