Unions representing Ryanair’s cabin crew are planning a strike in Belgium and elsewhere in Europe later in June, adding to the disruption for passengers traveling to and from Belgium during a busy holiday weekend and an EU summit.

Unions representing Ryanair workers in various European countries said on Friday they would hold a strike in Belgium and Portugal from June 24-26, a strike in France from June 25-26 and a strike in Italy on June 25 June plan.

They also announced plans for a strike in Spain on June 24, June 25, June 26, June 30 and June 1-2. Julian.

In addition to the disruptions, unions at Brussels Airlines are planning industrial action around the same period. Read the full story

Unions ACV and BBTK said they were forced to act because Ryanair failed to respect Belgian labor law on issues such as the minimum wage or paying cabin crew for certain pre-flight and post-flight work.

They said Irish low-cost airline Ryanair operated 17 planes from Charleroi Airport and two from Brussels.

A Ryanair spokesman said on Friday that rather than disrupting Belgian customers’ travel plans, unions should return to the negotiating table to seek improvements.

Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary said on Tuesday the union allegations were “complete nonsense”.

“We fully comply with Belgian law, we have employment contracts here with both the pilots’ union and the cabin crew’s union,” he told a press conference, adding that during a strike in April, less than 40% of Belgian Ryanair flights were affected.

More than 60% of flights to and from Belgium are operated with aircraft that are not based in the country.

Separately, unions said Thursday that pilots and cabin crew at Brussels Airlines, a unit of Lufthansa, would go on strike June 23-25.
