Rylan celebrates 10 years since his X Factor audition and says he has ‘no regrets’

Rylan reflected on how far he’s come over the past decade on Saturday morning, as he celebrated the 10th anniversary of his iconic X Factor audition on social media. .

The popular presenter, 33, told fans he had “no regrets” about him joining the now defunct ITV show – sharing a collage of himself could performed a song on stage with blonde hair trying to impress the judges.

Rylan auditioned for the ninth series of talent competitions at The O2 Arena in London in the presence of Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Tulisa and guest judge Rita Ora in 2012.

After the Radio 2 presenter performed a dance version of Des’ree’s ‘Kissing You’, Take That singer Gary seemed unimpressed, telling Rylan hopeful: “Rylan, love fish your personality, hate your voice, really weird song selection.”

Despite Gary’s negatives, the other three judges all sent people of Essex descent through the bootcamp, and the rest is history!

“Somehow, don’t know why, but today marks 10 years since that audition. Thanks for a decade to remember. No regrets x”, Rylan captioned his anniversary photo for 1, 7 million followers on Twitter on Saturday.

“Awesome darling,” Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus wrote to the former singer, with one fan adding: “And I’m so glad you did as a life without Rylan on TV would be very boring.”

“Rylan is not going back to music but someone else could be all I would say,” he told the Mirror in January.

“There’s a project I’m working on that’s MINE.

“I’ve been working on it for about two years. It’s mine, nobody else’s – it’s all mine.”

“That is, what could happen… That is all I will say.

“That’s what can happen,” he concluded enigmatically.

When pressed, Rylan denied any association with ITV’s The Masked Singer – where many celebrities sing in disguise – but declined to give further clues.

“Rylan won’t be returning to music but I’ll tell someone else,” the multi-talented star concluded in January.
