It was a night of glitz and glamor in Los Angeles on Sunday as some of the world’s biggest stars attended the 28th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Several award presenters and recipients used the platform to express solidarity with the Ukrainian people in the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Veteran actor Michael Douglas wore handkerchiefs emblazoned with the yellow and blue colors of the Ukrainian flag, while stars like Tyler Perry wore yellow and blue ribbons in support of the Ukrainian people.
When the awards were announced, it turned out to be a relatively unsuccessful night of work for British screen stars.
However, Dame Helen Mirren has gone with the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award.
In a humorous speech, the Oscar-winning actress, 76, joked that she enjoys “thinking inside the box” as she pays tribute to her co-stars.

Receiving awards from Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett, Dame Helen has been described as “the queen of acting”.
And she started her speech by joking, “Lifetime achievement, sounds epic. I suppose I’m alive so that’s how I qualify.”
She continued: “But honestly, any achievement that I’ve been successful in has been the result of my mantra of basically ‘come on time and don’t be a **”.
“Thanks SAG, at my age I hate to say slack, it’s always SAG for me.
“I am extremely proud at the same time but I understand that I absolutely do not deserve this.”
