Sally Kellerman starred in 1970’s M*A*S*H

Oscar-nominated actress Sally Kellerman, who played Margaret ‘Hot Lips’ Houlihan of the United States Army in the movie version of M*A*S*H, has passed away.

Jack Krane, his son, said the actress with a hoarse voice had passed away at a supported care home in California.

TMZ reported that the star was diagnosed with dementia in 2017 and hasn’t been well for several years.

Her son said it was clear to him on Wednesday night that his mother was unwell and he said his final goodbye.

The star famously appeared in Robert Altman’s 1970 film M*A*S*H as well as the 1986 comedy Back to School, opposite Rodney Dangerfield.

She also appeared in a number of shows on the small screen, including The Outer Limits, 12 O’Clock High, That Girl, and Mannix.

She has also acted in a number of animated films and has also completed voiceover work for the Hidden Valley Ranch costume.

With her iconic “M*A*S*H” role, Kellerman said she is finally remembered for the role.

In 2010, she said, “There have been times in my life when I felt I had to go out and prove that I was more than just Hot Lips.

M*A*S*H stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital and it went on to become one of the most successful sitcoms ever written with 256 episodes produced since 1972 until 1983.

The TV version of Kellerman’s Hot Lips character was played by Loretta Swit.

In the final show, Goodbye, Farewell and Amen cameras were placed in parking lots, offices and public spaces while it was shown simultaneously around the world to soldiers stationed in the country. outside.

At the time, it became the most-watched and highest-rated television episode in U.S. television history, with a record 125 million viewers.

Kellerman was married to Starsky & Hutch writer and director Rick Edelstein from 1970 to 1972, before marrying Face/Off producer Jonathan Krane in 1980.
