Eurovision contestant Sam Ryder will take the stage to raise Britain’s profile during tonight’s grand finale.

The 32-year-old TikTok star is one of 25 acts vying for the top prize during the culmination of the week-long competition in Turin, Italy.

The singer will perform his uplifting pop song Space Man, ranked 22nd in running order, in front of nearly 7,000 fans at the Arena Pala Olimpico.

He co-wrote the track with Grammy winner Amy Wadge, who previously worked with Ed Sheeran and Max Wolfgang.

At the 2019 contest, Great Britain continued their streak of poor results, finishing in last place with Michael Rice’s Bigger Than Us, while the Netherlands took first place with Duncan Laurence’s Arcade.

The 2020 competition has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Last year, British hopeful James Newman was the only contestant to score zero points in the final, finishing bottom of the rankings.

This year’s final includes the 20 successful nations from the two semi-finals of the week as well as the so-called Big Five Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Czechs We Are Domi will perform the track Lights Off in the opening slot, while Estonia will close the show with Stefan as Hope.
