Samurai Riot is Streets of Rage with Japanese Mythos, coming to Switch in June

2017 Koop Beat ’em up Samurai Riot is getting a brand new release – and the best part? It’s coming to Switch!

Developed by French indie studio Wako Factory, Samurai Riot is a side-scrolling beat ’em-up in the vein of Streets of Rage and Final Fight, but with a story focus and multiple branching paths. The game will be released on Switch as the Samurai Riot Definitive Edition, which comes loaded with brand new features including new dialogue, tweaks, and an improved combo system to make the game a little more accessible.

Hound Picked Games is pleased to announce, together with Wako Factory, a French indie development studio, the Samurai Riot Definitive Edition, which will soon be re-released on Nintendo Switch and PC after its successful launch in 2017. With constant requests from the community and forums for a console release, the Nintendo Switch arrives on June 1st, 2022 with new features and improvements so it’s not to be missed as a 2D, solo or co-op arcade beat ’em up!

Since the original incarnation, this new definitive version offers much, much more,

Fans of this genre can look forward to a visual treat where a backstory forces the player to really think about their in-game choices and the ramifications of their choices. As a samurai, Tsurumaru/Sukane, hired to bring peace and tranquility to the warring land, every decision you make will affect your destiny and, with an arsenal of deadly attacks at your disposal, the struggle to survive. Every battle requires cunning, skill and forethought!

Samurai Riot offers a wealth of choices and features, including both solo and cooperative play, where the story immerses both players equally, with a multi-branching storyline, complete with eight different endings. Conversely, you could engage in a PVP battle against your partner to gain the lead! The more you play, the more points you earn to unlock new battle schools for better replay value.

Easy to learn and play, but difficult to master, Samurai Riot Definitive Edition rewards the more demanding player with deeper content. Players can choose from 14 schools of combat, adding a wealth of gameplay variation to characters’ movements and the havoc they can unleash on their enemies.
