Three people have been stabbed at an airport in California.

The knifeman is said to have triggered the stabbing at San Francisco International Airport around 6 p.m. (local time) on Friday.

The suspect pulled out a “sharp weapon” and slashed three men The San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Three victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at the scene before being released, police said.

Airport dispatcher Russell Mackey said: “They were treated for minor scratches and released.”

The passengers continued their journey after the incident.

Airport spokesman Doug Yakel told the Chronicle the attacker “attempted to injure several bystanders.”

A local TV reporter, who happened to be at the airport when the incident happened, said a large knife was found at the scene.

The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

It is unclear what his motive was or if he was a traveler himself.

Police have not yet released any information about possible charges against the suspect and said the investigation is ongoing.

The attack reportedly took place in the pre-security area of ​​the airport’s international terminal.

It comes after a doctor and two nurses were stabbed to death at a Los Angeles hospital earlier this month.

The Los Angeles Police Department tweeted: “Reports of multiple people being stabbed at Encino Hospital. The suspect is said to be in a room inside the hospital. There is a large police presence.”

In later tweets, the LAPD said, “UPDATE: Two nurses and a doctor were injured during the incident and are currently receiving medical attention.

“The suspect has been taken into custody. Investigators will stay on site and conduct a thorough investigation.

“Ashkan Amirsoleymani, 35, has been identified as the suspect involved in the Encino Hospital stabbing incident.

“He was charged with three counts of attempted murder and his bail was set at $3 million.”

Amirsoleymani was in an hour-long standoff with police before his arrest.

He had received hospital treatment before launching his knife attack.

The scene of the stabbing was described by witnesses as “a bloodbath”.
