Michelle Obama reveals her daughters have boyfriends

Barack Obama’s daughters were only 10 and 7 years old when he was elected US President.

Sasha and Malia were the adorable kids to be seen with the world’s most powerful man – and they’ve stayed out of the spotlight since he left office in January 2017.

But mom Michelle Obama recently opened up about her life after the White House, telling American talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that her daughters now have “friends and a real life.”

“They loved the Jonas Brothers. Now they’re bringing grown men home,” explained Michelle, who gushed about the “amazing women” they’ve become.

The former first lady added, “It used to be just pop bands. Now they have friends and a real life and all that stuff. They grew up right before our eyes and are doing fine.”

This week it emerged that younger daughter Sasha has started dating a Hollywood actor’s son, while sister Malia has an amazing career.

After eight years of living in one of the most iconic buildings in the world in Washington DC, both girls are now spending their days in Los Angeles.

Malia has accepted a job as a screenwriter for Donald Glover’s new Amazon project, which is said to be a new series called Hive, created by Watchmen writer Janine Nabers and based on a “Beyonce-like” character.

Insiders say Hive has already started hiring staff for a writer’s room, and told the Hollywood Reporter that Malia is one of the recruits.

The 23-year-old, who graduated from Harvard University last year, has worked alongside Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry on several hit TV and film productions, including HBO’s Girls and CBS drama Extant.

Malia was dating British boy Rory Farquharson, whom she met at Harvard University in 2017, but it is not known if they are still together.

Limp-haired Toff Rory attended the prestigious Rugby School, one of England’s most elite public schools, which costs £32,000 a year for tuition and board.

Malia was spotted touching lips with Rory in a parking lot ahead of the Harvard-Yale soccer game in 2017 – and she also lit a cigarette.

Malia has been busy letting her hair down since she left the Washington fishbowl and was also spotted going wild at the Lollapalooza.

The president’s daughter was seen squirming on the ground and was later brought out by security guards in a golf buggy.

Obama’s eldest daughter also took a secret three-month trip to Bolivia and Peru in January 2017, but guides had no idea who she was and initially thought the security detail was actually for her blonde friend.

Speaking to the New York Times, one of the guides on a five-day hike said, “She was very humble, talkative, spoke very good Spanish. She was mesmerized by the Bolivian landscape.”

President Obama reportedly spoke to Bolivian President Evo Morales to ensure cooperation between the two governments for the security and discretion of their trip.

Sasha moved to LA last year after dropping out of the University of Michigan for a course at USC.

It was recently revealed that the 23-year-old is dating the son of Ray actor Clifton Powell, who now works as a commercial director.

At her new university, she met her new basketball player boyfriend, Clifton Powell Jr., 24, also known as “Cliff” and “CP3.”

In addition to having an actor father, his mother is a successful businesswoman, running an interior design company called WhateverUneed Designs and a catering company called Chef Kim.

Clifton attended Village Christian High School in San Fernando, a private school that charges a whopping $28,340 a year and offers “an excellent Christian education.”

In 2016, 6ft Clifton signed on to a basketball scholarship but later decided to focus on his work in the film industry.

At the time, his father had shared a post on Facebook: “Look at Clifton Powell Jr. God is good he’s officially signed on to a full four-ball scholarship at the University of California, Santa Barbra [sic] !!!!!!!!!”

The 24-year-old has never hidden his aspirations outside of sport, writing in his basketball bio that he hopes to pursue a career as a broadcaster.

Obama has spoken about his children and whether they might be tempted to follow in his footsteps with a career in politics.

“What would you think or what advice would you give if Sasha or Malia ever came up to you and said, ‘I want to go into public service?'” James Corden asked him on his Late Late Show in 2021.

Obama replied, “First of all, as teenagers – if they were being followed by Secret Service people going out on dates – they probably diminished their interest in public service.

“You still have PTSD from guys who talk into their wrist mics and glasses when they’re trying to go to a music concert.”

In the public service you have to have a certain tolerance for nonsense, stupidity and meanness, said the ex-president, from which he wanted to protect his girls.

“I think they’re probably going to find other ways to serve rather than running for office themselves,” he said, adding, “You never know.”

Meanwhile, Michelle Ellen also said she’s happy to be spending some time with her girls during the Covid pandemic.

“It was a very special pleasure to have her. This bit of time. Because they’re fun to be with as adults!” Michelle said.
