Some ITV viewers watching the latest episode of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway weren’t too impressed with Alan Partridge’s jokes as he took on the role of guest broadcaster.

Saturday Night Takeaway audiences were unimpressed with the ITV show’s newest guest announcer.
Actor and comedian Steve Coogan appeared on set as Alan Partridge’s replacement, but not everyone was happy to see him.
A parody of British TV personalities, Alan Partridge is a tasteless and incompetent right-wing broadcaster whose inflated sense of fame drives him to betray and shamelessly self-promotion.
Since his debut in 1991, he has appeared in media including radio and TV series, books and feature films – and now Saturday Night Takeaway.
During the 90 minutes of the show, Alan made various derogatory comments and said that he often spends Saturday nights on Tinder with various divorces.
He’s also made several attempts to promote his upcoming tour and even accused Ant and Dec of not mentioning it enough.
Although the live audience heard the laughter, the home audience clearly did not, and they took to Twitter to comment.
“Alan Partridge, or rather Steve Coogan, is a total disaster, so crazy and so lame. Love everything else and Ant and Dec as always. #SaturdayNightTakeaway,” one person said.
Another tweeted: “#SaturdayNightTakeaway absolutely loves ants and dec is Geordie’s teammate but saw partway Alan so patiently on tonight’s show like he was so good to be there, maybe was planned for him that way but didn’t work out for me.”
A third viewer commented: “Party Alan is really spoiling #SaturdayNightTakeaway for me tonight.”
Another wrote: “Probably just me but finding ‘Alan Partridge’ so unhappy on #SaturdayNightTakeaway. Ruins the normally hilarious show.”
And another viewer said: “Nice casual misogyny #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”
Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway continues the following weekend.
