Scarborough Joke and Magic shop ‘confused’ by customer complaints

A joke and magic shop received a complaint because its “money-making prop” didn’t print “real money.”

The store sold a “Magic Moneymaker” to a US customer – a £4.99 joke prop that “magically turns paper into money”.

However, the customer then left the store a One star rating up Trustpilot business reviews website when the prop didn’t turn paper into real money.

The customer said: “The item is not as described, this item is an absolute joke!

“There’s no point in copying money, it’s a waste of time.

“All the reviews that say they received the item and paid their rent and bills are lies.

“This item is nothing more than a toy for children, only buy it if you have children!

“I lost $55 buying five of these money makers and went to the post office to return the items and it would cost me $60 to return to the UK so I just took the loss and Decided to leave this review to let others know it’s not legitimate.”

Miles Jackson owns the Scarborough Joke and Magic Shop where the customer purchased the product.

He told the York Press: “We’ve sold literally hundreds of these items over the years! They are very popular with ‘beginner’ magicians as they are very easy to perform.

“I originally received an email from this customer saying they were not 100% satisfied with the product and wished to return it. Of course I agreed to that, because I didn’t know what problem he had with it.

“I was completely surprised and confused when I received the one star rating on Trustpilot instead. My biggest surprise was that they really thought they could ‘print’ real money with a £4.99 trick.

“And instead of returning the item for a full refund, they felt it necessary to ‘warn’ other people by leaving a negative review.”

He replied to the customer, “You bought a magic prop from a prank and magic shop!

“The thing you thought you were buying doesn’t exist and would be totally illegal if it did!

“I don’t know what else to say except bless you!”
