A fight between two schoolgirls at a busy park popular with families escalated when one of them pulled a knife on the other.
The girls, aged 13 and 15, are believed to have arranged the confrontation after an argument on social media.
Video captured by witnesses showed the pair exchanging punches before the younger teenager pulled out the potentially deadly weapon, to the shock of the crowd.
Humberside Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Grimsby Live reports.
Footage shows the pair wrestling before one girl repeatedly smacks the other on the head while witnesses mock from the sidelines.
Then they roll into a nearby hedge and continue fighting. The girl in the lead, dressed in black, then grabs the others’ arm to prevent her from being hit on the head before the girl on the ground grabs the others’ hair and repeatedly smacks her on the head with her free arm .
Suddenly, the girl in black appears to be struggling on top of each other and starts pulling her hair before someone in the crows says, “She’s got a fucking knife, mate, she’s got a fucking knife.”
The video shows the girl holding the gun before the crowd asked her to “put it down immediately” before the youth left the area.
The shocked father of the older girl said afterwards: “I received a call from my daughter at the hospital telling me that there had been a fight between her and another girl at the People’s Park.
“Our daughter has hand injuries and a concussion from the incident but luckily she will be fine.
“Something’s wrong when 13-year-old girls are walking around armed with knives. One wonders what kind of environment they grow up in.
“When I was a kid, there was never anything like that, now some people are afraid to let their kids out in general.”
Humberside Police asked for public help as they investigated the incident.
A spokesman said: “We are appealing to all who witnessed an altercation between two young people in People’s Park, Grimsby on the evening of June 11th.
“If you saw the incident and believe you can assist us with our inquiries, please call our non-emergency number 101 and quote log 378 dated 06/11/2022.”
