Sea of Thieves is getting a partially randomized three-part quest called Legend of the Veil.
The update arrives on April 21st and aims to combine a well-crafted cinematic story with the anything-can-happen appeal of regular gameplay.
While the third chapter of Legends of the Veil remains unchanged, the first two sections contain randomly generated quests with combat and puzzle-solving objectives.
The mission begins when the Pirate Lord appears on board and asks the player to collect three Veil Stones to place in the Veil Mask, each behind their own mini-adventure.
Chapters one and two can take players to underwater shipwrecks and haunted islands, while the final chapter sees them chasing a tornado across the map while defending against waves of ghost ships.
Athena’s level cap will also be raised from 20 to 30 when Legends of the Veil releases in a few weeks, and Rare is also adding new ancient-themed cosmetics, including a new ship set and new weapons.
In our 8/10 Sea of Thieves review, IGN said, “Despite the lack of meaningful progression beyond cosmetics, Sea of Thieves offers an endless sea of possibilities filled with exciting encounters with other players and an endless list of fun things to do .”
