Second body found at Arizona State Capitol in less than two weeks

PHOENIX (AP) — For the second time in 2019, a body has been found on the grounds of the Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix less than two weeksaccording to the authorities.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said the body was discovered Monday morning in the Capitol’s west parking lot.
Public safety officials are working to identify the body and how it ended up on the Capitol grounds.
On July 26, another body was found by Phoenix police outside the Capitol. DPS, which handles state capitol property, is also investigating this case. The identity of this person, as well as the cause of his death, has not yet been released.
Bart Graves, a DPS spokesman, said investigators had not ruled out whether both individuals were homeless or whether their deaths were heat-related. The Maricopa County coroner will determine the cause of death, he added.
Phoenix has experienced record-breaking extreme heat this summer. The city and its suburbs experienced maximum temperatures of over 43.4 degrees Celsius between June 30 and July 30. The previous record was 18 consecutive days in 1974.
