Leaked images of a new WhatsApp feature show a major shift in how group chats work.
WhatsApp is working on a community feature that will allow you to create parent groups for your group chats.
But having multiple groups can be chaotic at times — and hard to keep track of.
Now for the sniffer dogs WABetaInfo have discovered new images of the Communities feature in the “Beta” test version of the Android app.
“It’s like a group chat, and group admins can link to other groups in the community,” says WABetaInfo.
WABetaInfo added: “It will be possible to reach everyone at once by sending messages to all participants of these groups connected to the community.”
The full features aren’t available in beta yet, but it’s likely to be tested in the near future.
A community is a way of keeping groups organized.
Perhaps you could have a study group that includes many smaller groups.
Or maybe your neighborhood would have a community that splits into separate groups to educate and complain about neighborhood issues.
WhatsApp hasn’t confirmed when — or if — this feature will roll out to the general public.
How to get WhatsApp beta
Scroll down the page until you see “Become a Beta Tester”.
Tap the “I’m in” button, then tap “Join” to confirm.
Now all you have to do is wait for the update to the beta version of the app.
