Now on the new season of Sonic Official’s live stream, Sega of America Social Media Manager Katie Chrzanowski was asked when more will be revealed – teasing news about the next mainline Sonic project would arrive “soon” or at least sometime this one Year:
“See how many people are asking about this [Sonic] Frontiers, we don’t have any Frontiers news today, but don’t worry. It’s due out this holiday, so we’ll have news for you this year, don’t worry.”
Also, as mentioned, it’s still on track for a holiday 2022 release, so you won’t have to worry about delays or anything like that. The game was also apparently slated for a 2021 release, but Sega wanted to up the quality of the product.
The same livestream also reiterated that there are currently no plans for a physical version of Sonic originsbut Sega was made aware of the demand for one.
