Selena Gomez now refuses to ‘endure nonsense or disrespect’ from future relationships following her split from Justin Bieber.
The singer-actress said how proud she feels after putting herself first and standing up for what she wants out of a relationship.
The 29-year-old told The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast that she’s used division to practice self-love and compassion.
“It allowed me to develop a character where I wouldn’t accept any kind of nonsense or disrespect,” she said.
But despite her new-found confidence, she had times when she had to rethink her entire career following a “difficult” breakup.

She gave credit to her co-stars for helping her expect higher standards in her partner.
