Helen Skelton returns to Instagram without her wedding ring in early May

Country star Helen Skelton has emerged as one of Seriously Coming Dancing’s top targets for their new series later this year.

Former Blue Peter presenter, 38, who recently split from rugby league ace husband Richie Myler, 31, is being coveted by show bosses as they seek out the celebrity series the latest to appear in the long-running program.

Her appearance in the 2012 Strictly Festival special is still remembered by everyone and they were keen to include her in the lineup this time around.

An insider revealed to The Sun: “Helen has been on a strict wish list ever since she did the Christmas special, but the timing has never been right for her to sign up.

“She moved to France in 2015 for three years while Richie played there and also took time off to be pregnant with triplets.

“It was also suggested that Richie was unsure about her participation. But this year, bosses feel the situation may be different.”

The situation could actually be very different as she and Richie have now been separated since getting married in 2013. In late April, Helen announced on her Instagram page that they were no longer a couple, and Richie has left the family home.

She said at the time: “Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. We will do our best to be parents to our little ones. ”

Leeds Rhinos scrum-half even unfollowed his wife, with whom he has two boys and a baby girl, just 4 months old, on Instagram. And to rub salt into the wound, he was spotted with new girlfriend Stephanie Thirkill, the daughter of his multi-millionaire club president Andrew Thirkill.

Helen is trying to move on with her life and she posted pictures of herself and friends on a night out at the recent Sports Industry Awards, where she said she “felt like myself again”. This is the first time she has been seen publicly since the separation and she wore a Victoria Beckham midi dress for the occasion.

A source told Mail Online she was devastated by the split with Richie, saying: “She thinks her marriage is safe and secure and is completely shocked by what has happened. . Helen feels frustrated. ”
