The severe curse has quite a reputation, but there have been some real love stories to come out of it.
Dianne Buswell and her partner Joe Sugg are proof that anything can definitely work off the dance floor!
The pair met four years ago when they co-starred on the BBC One show, placing second behind Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton –
Another serious love story. And when we catch 33-year-old Dianne, it’s clear that her relationship with Joe is still going from strength to strength.
Describing him as “one of a kind,” she said, “Joe is like my little rock. He was very supportive – we were each other’s rock. He’s so busy with his job and I’m so busy with mine, but when we’re finally together after the crazy days, it’s just lovely.”

And Dianne says that despite their hectic work schedules, they always make time for each other.
“Even though we sometimes have to be apart for weeks because I’m on tour or he works, we both respect each other’s work so easily and it’s chilling,” she said. “He’s amazing, I wouldn’t have been able to do it without him, and vice versa.”
So how do they keep their spark alive? Dianne tells us it’s all date nights. “We make sure time together is always scheduled so we know when we’ll be together again,” she said. “He always says that absence makes the heart callous – and it’s really true.”
When we asked Dianne if she could expect an engagement ring soon, she told us, “That’s not for me to answer!”
However, it is clear that she is in a long term relationship. “Obviously, I want to be with Joe forever so whether we’re married or not, as long as we’re together I’m happy,” she said.
Dianne is currently busy doing some serious touring – and she told us it’s “wonderful” to be back in front of an audience.

She said: “The cast has been seriously like my family ever since I moved here. “I sometimes can’t believe how close we are.”
And it’s not just professionals who are passionate about the show – four years on, Joe still loves to dance.
“He [Joe] actually went to a serious tour the other night, and during that time, I caught him in the dressing room with his arm around his ballroom, and I was like ‘You’re practice dancing in front of the mirror?!’ He said, ‘Yeah, does it look good?’ It was funny,” Dianne laughed.
“So we still dance, especially when we watch dance together. He loved it and he was so good, I have to say. His dribbles have taken leaps and bounds.”
As for whether they would like to collaborate again on any future projects, Dianne said, “Yes, we definitely had a lot of ideas in the works. Just find time for us right now. But there are definitely ideas there.”
Last year, Dianne co-starred with Peep Show actor Robert Webb. But their journey in the competition was sadly cut short when Robert had to withdraw due to health reasons.
Looking back, the Australian-born says: “You never want to leave when you’re in a competition – you want to stay until the end. But obviously Robert has to take care of himself and that’s a perfectly valid reason for him to leave the show.”
Dianne now “has fire in her stomach” for the next series. “One thing I learned with Serious is that you never know what partner you’ll get, you never know what’s going to happen, what the audience will love, and they may not care much about it. what. You just have to face the good and the bad with Seriousness and enjoy each week as it comes,” she admits.
While she looks forward to returning as one of the professional dancers, she says she is opening up new opportunities in the future.
“I would love to do some other, completely new things,” she admits. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m really happy to continue with Serious, but I love trying new things.
“Right now, I’m really happy with where I am and what I’m doing, I can’t think of not doing my dance, but never say never!”
Proving she’s up for a challenge, Dianne has just partnered with deodorant brand Sure, which has seen her and her dance partner Pasquale La Rocca dance 12.6km non-stop for over two hours and 12 minutes and Set a new Guinness World Record for the longest jump. by a couple.
“I found the study of people stopping exercise because of anxiety about smell and sweat really interesting. And it’s amazing how 72 Hour Sure’s Nonstop Protection prevents people from feeling out of control,” she said. “If it can give someone a little extra courage to get out there and move, and make them feel happy in their own skin, I’m all for it!”
- Dianne used Sure’s new 72H Non-Stop Antiperspirant to keep her protected from sweat and odor during her record-breaking attempt.
