Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon has threatened to sue the producers of a new miniseries about British punk bands.

The singer-songwriter, 66, – who is known by his stage name Johnny Rotten – sent a new legal letter to the people behind FX’s Pistol yesterday, ahead of the show’s release.

A notice on his website confirmed this, adding: “The fact that the series is being described as ‘a dramatization’ and not a ‘realistic documentary’ is inexcusable. save it from the prospect of being watched for defamation.”

Last week, Lydon launched a new series that he wasn’t even a part of. It is based on the memoirs of guitarist Steve Jones.

The Pistol miniseries stars Anson Boon as Lydon, Louis Partridge as bassist Sid Vicious and Game Of Thrones’ Maisie Williams as punk fashion icon Jordan, who passed away two weeks ago.
